SHERMAN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Men's Basketball bounced back from Tuesday's road conference loss at Southwestern to post a convincing 84-69 road victory Friday night at Austin College.
TLU senior shooting guard
Jordan Kouremetis scored a game-high 23 for the Bulldogs, who improved to 10-7 overall and to 4-2 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Austin College fell to 6-11 overall and to 2-4 in the SCAC.
Kouremetis hit six of his 10 total shots and made four of his six three-point attempts. He added three rebounds, three assists and a steal.
Senior forward
Zach Behr added 13 points, five rebounds and two steals, and senior point guard
Sterling Holmes chipped in eight points and four rebounds.
Holmes, the reigning SCAC Player of the Year, moved within four points of scoring the 1,000th point of his three-year Bulldog career.
Bulldog junior forward
Matthew Gillette collected nine points and five rebounds off the bench.
Alex Cage and
Harris Jowell contributed eight and seven points, respectively,
TLU made 54.3 percent of its total shots and shot 46.7 percent from the three-point line.
The Bulldogs held the Kangaroos to 33.8 percent for the game and to 28.6 percent from the arc.
Austin Wells, Josh Quinn and Josh Dickerman each scored nine to lead the Kangaroos.
TLU now travels east to face Centenary College (La.) at 2 p.m. Sunday in Shreveport, La.
TLU and Centenary have faced each other in the last two SCAC Tournaments - with the TLU defeating Centenary in the 2015 tournament final and knocking out the Gents in the 2016 tournament semifinal. The Bulldogs are the two-time defending SCAC Champions.
