EDINBURG, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Women's Basketball took a lead into the fourth quarter against NCAA Division I opponent University of Texas Rio Grande Valley before ultimately falling 68-52 Monday night.
TLU led 44-43 entering the fourth quarter. The Bulldogs held a 10-point lead late in the first quarter.
The game was an exhibition game for the Bulldogs but a regular-season contest for the Vaqueros. UTRGV improved to 10-6 overall. TLU's record remained at 8-3.
Senior forward
Savannah Hight led TLU with 17 points. Hight made eight of her 12 shots and added two steals and two rebounds.
Bailey Champion scored seven, and
Kristen Lye and
Kasey Hairell each scored six. Lye led the Bulldogs with 11 rebounds.
With a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference road trip that includes two games later this week, no Bulldog played more than 22 minutes against UTRGV.
Bernesha Peters scored 20 and had four steals for the Vaqueros.
