GEORGETOWN, Texas -- The Southwestern Pirates stormed to a 14-point lead by the end of the first quarter and never let up in a 71-49 home win Tuesday night over the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs.

In Southwestern's Robertson Center, the Pirates delivered the first SCAC loss of the season to the Bulldogs, who had won their first four conference contests in 2016-17.

The loss dropped TLU to 12-4 overall and to 4-1 in the SCAC. Southwestern improved to 6-10 overall and to 3-2 in the SCAC.

Southwestern out-rebounded the Bulldogs 61-39 and held TLU to just 30 percent shooting for the entire game.

TLU made just 21 of its 70 shot attempts and went 5-for-24 from the three-point line.

Cecily Woolfolk led Southwestern with 18 points and nine rebounds. Madison Edwards added 13 points, five rebounds and three assists.

Savannah Hight led TLU in scoring, with nine. She recorded two assists and two steals.
Kristen Lye chipped in eight points and eight rebounds.

TLU trailed 44-24 at the half and by as many as 28 points in the third quarter.

The Bulldogs now must regroup for a pair of key SCAC road matches this weekend. The Bulldogs face Austin College at 6 p.m. Friday in Sherman, Texas and then play Centenary College (La.) at noon Sunday in Shreveport, La.
