SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Women's Soccer erased an early 1-0 deficit and posted a 4-1 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victory Sunday afternoon over the Centenary College (La.) Ladies.
At TLU's Gustafson Field, the Bulldogs picked up goals from
Bailey Nimtz (23rd minute),
Katie Morton (32nd minute),
Tara Armstrong (59th minute, penalty kick) and
Claudia Trevino (69th minute).
Nimtz's goal was assisted by
Anakay Mora Alcazar.
Gabby Flores and Morton assisted on the Morton and Trevino goals.
Marissa Hughes put Centenary up early with a goal in the 12th minute off an assist from Serena Gallegos.
TLU played without starting keeper
Erin Rose, who was out with an injury, but the Bulldog keepers
Nichole Glazener,
Stephanie Barrientos and
Alexandra Call kept Centenary to the one goal.
Barrientos played the majority of the match. In nearly 63 minutes in goal, Barrientos made four saves.
Kalie Hughes played almost 62 minutes in goal for Centenary. She made six saves.
The Bulldogs led in shots on goal (11-5) and in total shots (20-9).
TLU improved to 2-2-2 overall and to 1-1-1 in the SCAC.
Centenary dropped to 4-3 overall and to 1-2 in the SCAC.
The Bulldogs' next match is a Thursday non-conference road match in Austin against Huston-Tillotson. TLU resumes conference play on Sunday with a 2 p.m. match in Irving, Texas against the University of Dallas.
