SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Volleyball opened Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play Friday afternoon with a convincing 25-20, 25-21, 25-9 win over Schreiner University.
At the SCAC Divisional Tournament, hosted by Trinity University, the Bulldogs received 12 kills and seven digs from
Kristin Fording and eight kills and two blocks from
Makenzie Griffin.
Kaci Pecht and
Jaci Chambers delivered 14 and 12 assists, respectively, and the Bulldogs tallied six total blocks.
Mathis Popelsky led TLU with 19 digs, and the team served five aces (two from Popelsky, two from Pecht, and one from Fording).
TLU held Schreiner to a .016 hitting percentage.
The Bulldogs improved to 7-2 overall (1-0 SCAC). Schreiner dropped to 2-7 overall (0-1 SCAC).
TLU faces No. 7 Southwestern at 10:30 a.m. Saturday and host Trinity at 5 p.m. Saturday. Both matches count toward SCAC standings.
