GEORGETOWN, Texas -- A day after securing a share of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference regular-season title, Texas Lutheran dropped a pair of road conference games to Southwestern on Saturday afternoon. Southwestern won 7-4 and 14-10 at Rockwell Field.
TLU's two losses dropped the team to 24-13 overall and to 14-4 in the SCAC.
TLU will share the SCAC regular-season title with Trinity University (32-7, 14-4 SCAC).
The Bulldogs still take the top seed and hosting duties for the upcoming SCAC Tournament by virtue of their series win over Trinity.
In game one Saturday, Southwestern took a 7-1 lead and held on despite allowing three runs to the Bulldogs over the final three innings.
Lincoln Baylor (5-3) took the loss for the Bulldogs.
Alejandro Gutierrez homered for TLU in the opener.
In game two, Southwestern again jumped to a big lead. This time the Pirates took an 11-1 lead after three.
TLU responded with seven runs in the top of the fourth to get back into the game. But the Bulldogs could get no closer than four runs the rest of the way.ÂÂ
Cody Rimko (4-4) took the loss for TLU.
Gutierrez doubled and drove in three, and Baylor collected four hits and scored twice.
TLU's next game is a 7 p.m. non-conference home game Tuesday against Concordia Texas.
