Bulldog Baseball sweeps doubleheader from University of Dallas

SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Baseball remained undefeated in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play after collecting 9-3 and 5-1 wins Saturday over University of Dallas at TLU's Katt-Isbel Field.

Justin Law and Keaton Bohrmann each homered in the first game, and Bohrmann and Rayce Gatlin supplied homers in game two. Gatlin excited the home crowd with an inside-the-park home run in the Bulldogs' three-run seventh.

TLU improved to 18-9 overall and to 8-0 in the SCAC. Dallas fell to 7-21 overall and to 3-5 in the SCAC.

The three-game conference series concludes Sunday with another nine-inning contest, set for a 1 p.m. start at Katt-Isbel Field. TLU will have live video and stats on tlubulldogs.com.

In the early game, Law registered a 4-for-4 performance with five RBI. Bohrmann added a 3-for-5 showing with two RBI.

Alejandro Gutierrez posted a pair of hits and scored three times. Gatlin went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

Nathan Malinovsky tossed seven innings to pick up the first-game win. The redshirt freshman improved to 6-1.

In game two, designated hitter Andrew Whitten went 4-for-4 with a run scored. Bohrmann and Gatlin each drove in two.

Bohrmann's home run total now sits at four for the season. Gatlin's homer was his first of the year.

Lincoln Baylor went five innings and moved his pitching mark to 3-2. He struck out four and did not issue a walk.

Drew Waller got the Bulldogs out of a bases-loaded jam in the ninth to claim his first collegiate save. Waller coaxed the Crusaders into a game-ending ground ball to third base. Bohrmann, TLU's senior third baseman, picked the baseball clean on a short hop and threw across the diamond, where Law made the one-hop scoop for the final out.
