SEGUIN, Texas -- Junior outfielderÂ
Kaymee Gooden blasted a pair of home runs and went 6-for-6 with nine RBI as third-ranked Texas Lutheran swept a conference doubleheader Friday from Southwestern University.
TLUÂ sent its overall record to 28-1 and its Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference record to 14-0 with 10-3 and 10-2 wins at Ed Kruse Stadium - Morck Softball Field.
Gooden homered twice in the first game. She hit a three-run shot in the second inning and a two-run blast in the fifth. She scored three runs in the early game.
Gooden's three-run shot tied the game in the second after Southwestern scored three in the first to take a quick lead.
In the late game, Gooden drove in four with a two-run double in the first and a two-run single in the second.
Game two ended after five innings.
After moving the Friday doubleheader from Georgetown to Seguin because of weather and wet field conditions at Southwestern, TLU collected the two wins to extends its unbeaten streak in conference play to 48 games.
The two home wins moved the Bulldogs' winning streak at Ed Kruse Stadium to 36 games.
The Bulldogs, two-time defending champions of the SCAC, have not lost a conference game since March 29, 2014.
Heather Hummel went 3-for-4 with three runs scored in the first game.
Taylor Yancey drove in three runs and went 2-for-2 in the second game.
Nicole Snow delivered a two-run double in the late contest.
Taylor Grissom recorded the complete-game victory in the first game. She improved to 11-0.
Veny Pizana moved to 7-0 with the complete-game win in game two.
TLU and Southwestern are scheduled to return to Georgetown on Saturday for a 2 p.m. doubleheader. There is a chance, if field conditions have not improved in Georgetown, that the final two games of the series could be played on the artificial turf of Ed Kruse Stadium. The coaching staffs plan to make a site determination late Friday night.
