SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran pitchers held Centenary to six hits and did not allow a run in 3-0 and 5-0 wins Saturday at Ed Kruse Stadium - Morck Softball Field.
The Bulldogs stretched their unbeaten streak in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play to 46 games. The Bulldogs' consecutive win streak at Ed Kruse Stadium now stands at 34 games.
The fourth-ranked team in the latest NFCA Top 25 poll, TLU improved to 24-1 overall and to 12-0 in the SCAC. The Bulldogs are the two-time defending SCAC Champions. The team has made back-to-back NCAA Division III regional tournament appearances.
Centenary fell to 14-16 overall and to 4-12 in the SCAC.
Taylor Yancey and
Heather Hummel each homered for TLU in the early game. Yancey hit her second of the season, and Hummel blasted her team-high seventh.
Yancey's was a two-run shot to right-center in the fourth. Hummel gave TLU a 1-0 lead with a solo homer to right-center in the second.
The three runs were all Bulldog senior right-hander
Taylor Grissom would need. Grissom tossed a complete-game three-hitter. She struck out one and walked two in improving to 9-0. She lowered her season ERA to 0.75.
In game two,
Veny Pizana tossed five shutout innings and improved to 6-0. She lowered her ERA to 0.83. Pizana struck out four and allowed just two hits.
Samantha Yenne pitched the final two innings and allowed just one hit. She struck out one.
In the second game, Yancey went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles, raising her season doubles total to 15 and her season average to .500.

The Bulldogs stole seven bases in the late game.
TLU hits the road for a Tuesday non-conference doubleheader at Concordia Texas. Start time for game one in Austin is set for 5 p.m.
