RICHARDSON, Texas -- At the University of Texas at Dallas Baseball Field on Friday afternoon, the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs split a non-conference baseball doubleheader with UT Dallas.
TLU took the first game 4-3 in eight innings, and UT Dallas grabbed a 9-6 victory in the late game.
In the early game,
Lincoln Baylor drove in the game-winning run for TLU with a sacrifice fly in the eighth.
Keaton Bohrmann, who led-off the eighth with a double, scored the winning run.
Baylor drove in two of TLU's four runs. The senior designated hitter doubled in the fourth to score
Colby Schrade.
Redshirt freshman right-hander
Nathan Malinovsky went the distance for his fifth win. Malinovsky (5-1) struck out four, did not issue a walk, and allowed three runs and nine hits.
In the late game, TLU trailed 7-1 after four innings but rallied with three runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth to cut the lead to one.
Bulldog sophomore
Riley Schaefer doubled in the fourth and in the fifth and scored a pair of runs. Schaefer delivered a two-run double in the fifth.
Justin Law drove in Schaefer in the fourth with a fielder's choice and in the fifth with a single.
UT Dallas answered with two runs in the bottom of the sixth to secure the win.
The teams were scheduled to play a seven-inning/nine-inning doubleheader. Since the first game went extra innings, the second game became the seven-inning contest.
The split gave TLU a 16-9 overall record. UT Dallas now sits at 10-10 overall.
The Bulldogs return to Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play next Saturday and Sunday with a three-game series in Seguin against the University of Dallas.
