SHERMAN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran rolled to 22-4 and 17-0 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victories Saturday afternoon against Austin College.
At Baker Field in Sherman, Texas, TLU started the doubleheader with 10 runs in the first inning of game one. After Austin College scored four runs in the bottom of that first inning, Bulldog pitching held the Kangaroos scoreless over the remaining 13 innings.
Both games ended after seven innings due to the 10-run rule.
TLU took its overall record to 14-8 and its conference mark to 5-0.
Austin College dropped to 9-10 overall and to 0-5 in the SCAC.
TLU senior first baseman
Justin Law went 3-for-4 with five RBI in the early game and 1-for-4 with four RBI, including a three-run home run.
Junior left-fielder
Colby Schrade drove in six (three in each game). He went 3-for-4 in game one and 2-for-3 in game two. Schrade hit a two-run home run in the second game.
Trenton Ray hit the first of TLU's three home runs in the second game. Ray followed an RBI double in the second inning with a two-run homer in the third. He concluded the second game 3-for-4 with three RBI.
Alejandro Gutierrez and
Eric Rabinowitz each tallied three hits in the first game. Gutierrez and
Riley Schaefer each scored four times in the 22-4 win.
Schraeder added three more runs scored in the late game. Rayce Gatlln scored a total of five runs over the two games.
TLU totaled 39 runs and 31 hits. The Kangaroos managed just four runs and 16 hits. Austin College also committed seven errors in the two contests.
