KERRVILLE, Texas -- Before severe weather halted play, Texas Lutheran secured a pair of one-run victories - 3-2 and 1-0 - Friday afternoon against Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference opponent Schreiner University.
The second game was called because of the weather after five complete innings.
TLU, the fourth-ranked team in the latest NFCA Top 25 poll, improved to 18-1 overall and to 6-0 in the SCAC.
The Bulldogs won their 39th and 40th consecutive conference games in the SCAC.
Schreiner dropped to 3-15 overall and to 1-5 in the SCAC.
Jennifer Gallagher hit a solo home run and had two hits for TLU in the opener.
Nicole Snow and
Lainey Hebert also picked up RBI.
Taylor Grissom tossed a complete-game three-hitter to improve to 7-0. She struck out nine and did not walk a batter.
In the late game,
Heather Hummel drove in
Kaymee Gooden with an RBI sacrifice fly in the second inning.
Amanda Lochte (6-1) pitched all five innings and allowed just two hits and no runs. She struck out six.
TLU and Schreiner conclude the SCAC series Saturday in Kerrville. The doubleheader is scheduled for a noon start.
