No. 13 Texas Lutheran rolls to 12-3, 8-0 home wins over UMHB

SEGUIN, Texas -- Thirteenth-ranked Texas Lutheran collected impressive 12-3 and 8-0 run-rule wins Saturday against the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.

At TLU's Ed Kruse Stadium - Morck Softball Field, the Bulldogs belted a combined 21 hits in 10 innings and received complete-game pitching performances from Taylor Grissom (2-0) and Amanda Lochte (2-0).

Lochte, a junior right-hander from Fredericksburg (Fredericksburg), tossed a one-hit shutout in the second game. She gave up only a two-out single in the first inning and retired the final 13 UMHB batters in order.

Lochte struck out five and did not walk a batter.

In game one, senior right-hander Grissom (Spring/Klein Collins) allowed three runs (two earned), struck out six and walked one.

Jennifer Gallagher (Missouri City/Elkins) drove in six in the doubleheader. The senior catcher had four in the first game.

Fellow senior Taylor Yancey (Magnolia/Magnolia West) added four RBI (two in each game).

Sophomore outfielder Brayden Pinckard (Buda/Hays) homered to center field in game one and scored a pair of runs.

Senior shortstop Grace Estes (Willis/Willis) went 4-for-6 with four runs scored and three RBI.

TLU has 20 days off until its next contests - four games in Sherman, Texas against Austin College on Feb. 26-27. The Bulldogs and Kangaroos open Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play with the four games.
