IRVING, Texas -- At the University of Dallas' Crusader Field, Texas Lutheran split a Saturday doubleheader with the Crusaders, losing the first game 6-2 and winning the second game 15-1.
TLU now stands at 6-4 on the season. Dallas is 3-9. The TLU-Dallas series is a non-conference series between two members of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Bulldog right-hander
Nathan Malinovsky (2-0) tossed a complete-game, three-hitter in the second game. He struck out eight.
Malinovsky had plenty of support from the TLU lineup, which produced 15 runs on 18 hits. Dallas committed seven errors in the late game.
Seven different Bulldogs had multi-hit performances in the second game.
Rayce Gatlin and
Riley Schaefer each collected three hits.
J.T. Gorski scored three times and had three RBI.
Eric Rabinowitz went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI.
In the early game, Dallas broke open a scoreless contest with three runs in the sixth. After TLU pushed across a pair of runs in the top of the seventh, Dallas scored three more times in the bottom of the inning.
In the loss,
Keaton Bohrmann and Schaefer had three hits and two hits, respectively. Gatlin drove in a pair of runs.
The Bulldogs and Crusaders play a single, nine innings game Sunday at Crusader Field. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
