IRVING, Texas -- Freshman guard
Paris Marquez scored a career-high 24 points and made a career-best five three-pointers to lead the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs to an 80-71 road win Friday night at the University of Dallas.
Marquez hit eight of his 13 shots attempts and five of his seven three-point attempts for the Bulldogs, who improved to 18-5 overall and to 10-2 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. Marquez also collected five rebounds.
TLU moved a half-game (and full game in the loss column) in front of Colorado College for the SCAC lead. Colorado College lost 57-56 in San Antonio to Trinity University. The Tigers have one game remaining on their conference schedule. Colorado College plays Schreiner at 6 p.m. Saturday in Kerrville, Texas.
TLU still has two conference games remaining - Saturday's 4 p.m. contest at Austin College and next Friday's 6 p.m. game at Southwestern.
The top two teams in the SCAC regular season receive first-round byes in the SCAC Championship tournament.
Friday against Dallas, TLU raced to a 51-33 halftime lead by shooting 54.1 percent form the field and 50 percent from the three-point line.

The Bulldogs out-rebounded Dallas 45-24 and had a 16-5 edge on the offensive glass.
