CONWAY, Ark. -- Texas Lutheran dropped to 3-3 overall with an 81-77 road loss Saturday to Hendrix College (Ark.).
The Bulldogs, playing without All-American point guard
Sterling Holmes, staged a second-half rally that cut the Hendrix lead to four with 2:49 to play and to two with 29 seconds remaining.
The Warriors made nine of their last 12 free throws to close out the home win.
Hendrix improved to 2-4.
Senior shooting guard
Jordan Kouremetis made six of his seven shot attempts, including 2-of-3 from the three-point line, and scored a team-high 15. He added three assists and two rebounds.
Sophomore guard
Michael Sullivan contributed 12 points and five assists, and junior post
Matthew Gillette chipped in 12 points and 17 rebounds.
TLU had 21 assists on its 29 made field goal attempts.
The Bulldogs finished the night with a shooting percentage of 46 percent overall. TLU was 5-for-17 from the three-point line.
Hendrix was led by Preston Smith's 24 points. Smith made six three-poiters, going 6-for-8 from the arc and 6-for-8 from the free throw line.
Travis Garrett added 17 points and six rebounds.
TLU plays again Sunday in Conway, Ark. The Bulldogs face Millsaps (Miss.) at 3 p.m.
