LONGVIEW, Texas -- Texas Lutheran's
Kristen Lye (San Antonio/Clark) scored the 1,000th point of her career among the 21 she tallied Thursday to lead the Bulldogs to a 66-55 neutral site win over East Texas Baptist.
At LeTourneau University's Solheim Arena, Lye paced the Bulldogs in points (21) and rebounds (13) as TLU stretched a two-point lead at the end of the third quarter to the 11-point winning margin.
The Bulldogs won their sixth game in a row and swept the season two-game series with ETBU. The Tigers fell to 0-10 overall with the non-conference loss.
TLU improved to 8-2 by winning its eighth contest in the last nine games.
Lye made eight of her 15 shots and crept within nine points of passing Kim Hagan for 10th on the all-time TLU women's basketball scoring list. Lye now has 1,019 career points.
Fellow senior forward
Savannah Hight (San Antonio/Brandeis) added 11 points, seven rebounds, five steals and two assists. Senior guard
Cierra Jordan (Llano/Llano) chipped in 10 points, six rebounds, six assists and four steals.
TLU collected 14 steals and forced 18 total ETBU turnovers.
The Bulldogs limited ETBU to eight total free throw attempts. TLU went to the line 23 times and made 14.
