ABILENE, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Women's Basketball captured its fourth straight win - its sixth in the last seven games - with a 69-60 road victory Saturday afternoon against McMurry University.
In McMurry's Kimbrell Arena, the Bulldogs recovered from a five-point first quarter to out-score the War Hawks 64-49 over the final three quarters.
TLU senior forward
Kristen Lye (San Antonio/Clark) paced the Bulldogs with 20 points and 10 rebounds, and fellow senior forward
Savannah Hight (San Antonio/Brandeis) added 15 points and nine rebounds.
Lye moved her career point total to 983, and Hight pushed her career total to 918. Lye and Hight are 13th and 14th, respectively, on the TLU Women's Basketball all-time scoring list.
In addition to being 17 points from becoming the 11th Bulldog to reach 1,000 points, Lye is two points from 12th and 12 points from 11th on the TLU career scoring chart.
Saturday against McMurry, Lye scored 16 of her 20 in the second half.
TLU led by as many as 18 in the fourth quarter.
The Bulldogs went to the line 44 times and made 28 free throws.
TLU improved to 6-2 overall with the non-conference win. McMurry fell to 3-6.
TLU and McMurry play again this coming Tuesday in Seguin. Game time is set for 3 p.m. in TLU's Memorial Gymnasium. The contest precedes the 5 p.m. TLU Men's Basketball game against McMurry.
