Bulldogs stifle East Texas Baptist offense in 78-57 victory


GEORGETOWN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran held East Texas Baptist to 26.8 percent shooting for the game while posting a 78-57 non-conference road victory Sunday afternoon at Southwestern University.

The Bulldogs limited ETBU to 2-for-14 in the fourth quarter and to 3-for-18 from the three-point line in the contest.

TLU improved to 3-2 overall. ETBU dropped to 0-4.

Senior forward Kristen Lye tallied her fourth double-double in five games this season. The San Antonio Clark product scored 17 and added 10 rebounds. She made 11 of her 12 free throw attempts.

Fellow senior forward Savannah Hight (San Antonio/Brandeis) collected 13 points, four rebounds and two assists. Hight went 5-for-7 from the field, including 3-for-4 from the three-point line.

Senior guard Cierra Jordan (Llano/Llano) contributed 12 points, two rebounds and two assists.

The Bulldogs out-rebounded the Tigers 52-38. Sixteen different Bulldogs had at least one rebound.

Sade' Murrell paced the Tigers with 13 points and five rebounds.

TLU continues its stretch of road games next weekend with contests against Rhodes (noon Saturday) and Hendrix (1 p.m. Sunday) in Conway, Ark.
