SEGUIN, Texas -- The Hardin-Simmons Cowgirls rallied from a 13-point deficit in the fourth quarter to spoil Texas Lutheran's home and season-opener with an 84-83 road win.

The Cowgirls (1-0) took the lead on a Danie Mabry layup with 13 seconds to play.

The Bulldogs' final shot, a layup, was blocked by Heidi Schroeder. TLU grabbed the loose ball but could not score in the lane as the horn sounded.

Mabry led HSU with 21 points, four assists and four steals.The Cowgirls had four players in double figures. Schroeder added 14 points, four rebounds, two blocks and two steals.

Kayla Brown contributed 12 points and eight rebounds for HSU.

Caitlin Rendon scored a career-high 17 points for TLU (0-1). Rendon hit eight of 12 shots and added four rebounds and two blocks.

Kristen Lye added 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Bulldogs.
Adelaide Wenzel recorded 14 points, four rebounds and six assists.

Savannah Hight added nine points, nine rebounds, six steals and five assists.

The Bulldogs led by nine, 62-53, entering the fourth quarter.

HSU hit 63.6 percent of its shots in the fourth. TLU went 7-for-15 (46.7 percent) in the fourth.

The Cowgirls made 54 percent for the game. TLU finished at 45.7 percent.
