SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran scored the first 21 points of the game, raced to a 24-4 lead after the first quarter and recorded a 70-48 conference win over University of Dallas.
Friday in TLU's Memorial Gymnasium, TLU registered seven steals on Dallas' first seven possessions. Bulldog junior forward
Savannah Hight collected four of the steals.
At the end of the first quarter, Hight had nine points, four steals, two rebounds and two assists. She finished the night with 11 points, five steals, four rebounds, two assists and one block.
TLU took its overall record to 6-7 and its Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference mark to 2-0.
Dallas fell to 3-7 overall and to 0-2 in the SCAC.
Cierra Jordan led TLU with 12 points.
Kristen Lye added 10 points and six rebounds.
Madison Ray chipped in six points and seven rebounds.
TLU played all 18 players in uniform Friday. Hight, Lye and fellow starters
Bailey Champion,
Taylor Dydalewicz and
Adelaide Wenzel each only played 15 minutes.
The Bulldogs held Dallas to 29.3 percent shooting and to a 4-for-18 performance at the three-point line.
