COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Twenty-first ranked Texas Lutheran won its ninth straight and established the program's best record through 19 games (16-3) with a convincing 80-66 road win Friday against Colorado College.
The Bulldogs pushed their Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference record to 8-0 and moved their SCAC regular-season win streak to 10, dating back to last year.
The defending conference tournament champion and defending conference regular season co-champion, TLU won for the second straight season in Colorado Springs.
Colorado College dropped to 12-8 overall and to 7-2 in the SCAC with the loss.
TLU swept the 2015-16 regular season meetings with Colorado College.
Bulldog point guard
Sterling Holmes (San Antonio/Antonian) scored 20, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out three assists. Shooting guard
Jordan Kouremetis (San Antonio/O'Connor) added 16 points and three rebounds.
Matthew Gillette (Spring/Klein) and
Zach Behr (Temple/Temple) also scored in double figures. Gillette contributed 12 points and eight rebounds, and Behr registered 10 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Colorado College made 57 percent of its shots last week in a loss to TLU in Seguin. Friday in Reid Arena, the Tigers made 46.8 percent.
TLU shot 50.9 percent for the game and made 54.5 percent in the second half. The Bulldogs led by 12, 38-26, at the break and by as many as 18, with 9:40 to play in the game.
Colorado College had its biggest lead of the night when it scored the first five points of the game.
The Bulldogs travel to Shreveport, La. for Sunday's noon contest against the Centenary Gents.
