SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran moved into a second-place tie and within one game of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference lead with a hard-fought 89-81 home win Saturday against Centenary (La.).

TLU improved to 9-9 overall and to 5-2 in the SCAC. With Austin College's loss to Trinity, the Bulldogs now sit a game behind Trinity and tied with Austin College in the SCAC standings.

Kristen Lye (San Antonio/Clark) and senior forward
Taylor Dydalewicz (Dripping Springs/Lake Travis) combined to score 50 of the Bulldogs' 89.

Lye went 5-for-6 from the field and 16-for-17 from the free throw line to score 26. Dydalewicz hit eight of her 14 shots and made six of her eight free throws for 24 points.

Lye also collected 11 rebounds, three steals, two assists and a block. Dydalewicz registered nine rebounds and two assists.

Savannah Hight (San Antonio/Brandeis) was the only other Bulldog in double figures. She scored 12, collected four rebounds and had three assists, three steals and a block.

TLU scored 31 points in the final quarter to pull away finally from the Ladies, who dropped to 6-12 overall and to 1-7 in the SCAC.

Briana Edwards scored 18, secured 13 rebounds and blocked four shots for Centenary.

Jasmine Morris led Centenary in scoring. The freshman guard scored 21. She made 14 of her 16 free throw attempts.
