SEGUIN, Texas â€" The Texas Lutheran Bulldogs held Calumet-St. Joseph (Ind.) without an earned run Saturday in a doubleheader sweep of the Crimson Wave at TLU's Ed Kruse Stadium â€" Morck Softball Field.

The Bulldogs posted a 6-2 win in game one and a 3-0 win in game two.

Taylor Grissom (Spring/Klein Collins) went the distance in game one, striking out one, walking one, and scattering five hits. The two runs against her scored as a result of an error.

Grissom, last year's SCAC Pitcher of the Year, improved to 3-0. She has won all three of her starts in 2015. Grissom lowered her season ERA to 0.40.

Veny Pizana (Odem/Odem) and
Samantha Yenne (Lake Jackson/Brazoswood) combined on a four-hit shutout in game two.

Pizana (3-2) started the game and went four innings to pick up her third win of the season. She allowed just three hits, walked two and struck out one.
Â
Yenne pitched the final three innings and surrendered a lone hit. She struck out two in picking up her first save of the season.

The Bulldogs trailed 2-1 in the first game until a five-run fifth inning propelled the team into the lead.

Ashley Jacobsen (Marion/Marion),
Jennifer Gallagher (Missouri City/Elkins) and
Nicole Snow (Tomball/Klein Oak) belted RBI doubles in succession to produce four runs.

Jacobsen's double tied the game at 2-2. Gallagher's two-run double gave TLU a 4-2 lead, and Snow's double pushed the lead to 5-2.

Brayden Pinckard (Buda/Hays) plated the fifth run of the inning with a single to score Snow.
Â
Kirsten Whiteside (Belton/Belton) scored twice and produced a pair of hits in game one for the Bulldogs.
Jacquelyn Brown (Vidor/Video) went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.

In game two, Gallagher delivered a pinch-hit, RBI ground-out, and
Heather Hummel (Houston/Stratford) scored two runs and went 1-for-2 with an RBI.

TLU improved to 6-4 overall. Calumet (Ind.) dropped to 10-8.

The Bulldogs open conference play on Tuesday and Wednesday with a four-game series against Austin College at TLU's Kruse Stadium. The doubleheader Tuesday starts at 5 p.m., and the doubleheader Wednesday starts at 1 p.m.
