SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Softball limited Austin College to three hits and no runs in a doubleheader sweep Tuesday night at Ed Kruse Stadium â€" Morck Softball Field.

TLU pitchers
Taylor Grissom (Spring/Klein Collins),
Veny Pizana (Odem/Odem) and
Samantha Yenne (Lake Jackson/Brazoswood) combined to toss 13 innings of shutout softball in TLU's 8-0 and 2-0 wins over the Kangaroos.

TLU, the defending Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference champion, improved to 8-4 overall and to 2-0 in the SCAC.

Austin College dropped to 5-3 overall and to 0-2 in the SCAC.
Â
TLU, in its second year in the SCAC, has won 23 of its first 24 games in the conference.

In game one, SCAC Pitcher of the Week Grissom hurled a one-hit shutout. The game ended in the bottom of the sixth due to the eight-run rule.

Grissom struck out seven and walked one while improving to 4-0 in four starts this year. The 2014 SCAC Pitcher of the Year, Grissom lowered her 2015 ERA to 0.30.

TLU scored two runs in the first, three in the fourth and three more in the sixth.
Â
Jennifer Gallagher (Missouri City/Elkins) went 3-for-4 with a double and four RBI.
Ashley Jacobsen (Marion/Marion),
Taylor Yancey (Magnolia/Magnolia West) and
Brayden Pinckard (Buda/Hays) each recorded RBI.
Â
Jacquelyn Brown (Vidor/Vidor) and Pinckard each produced two hits. Brown scored twice and stole three bases.

In game two, Pizana started and went three innings, allowing just one hit. Yenne tossed the final four innings to pick up the win. Yenne moved her pitching record to 1-2. She struck out four and allowed one hit.

TLU scored both of its runs in the second inning.
Hope Estes (Willis/Willis) started the frame with a double to left field. Yancey followed with a single to left-center that moved Estes to third. Pinckard then scored Estes on a sacrifice fly to left field.

With Yancey at second,
Heather Hummel (Houston/Stratford) hit an infield single and advanced to second on a throwing error. The throwing error brought home Yancey.

TLU and Austin College conclude the four-game conference series with a 1 p.m. doubleheader at Kruse Stadium.
