SEGUIN, Texas â€" Texas Lutheran Softball cruised to 8-0 and 10-0 run-rule wins Sunday afternoon over Schreiner University at TLU's Ed Kruse Stadium â€" Morck Softball Field.

The Bulldogs held the Mountaineers to three hits total in the two games.

Veny Pizana (Odem/Odem) took a no-hitter into the fourth inning of the second game. Schreiner broke up the no-hit bid with a bloop single over the pitching circle.

Pizana, a right-hander, and fellow sophomore
Samantha Yenne (Lake Jackson/Brazoswood) combined on a one-hitter. Pizana moved her overall record to 5-2.

Both games ended early by way of the eight-run rule. The first game ended in the sixth, and the second game was called in the fifth.

TLU improved to 14-4 overall and to 6-0 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. The Bulldogs, the defending SCAC champions, are 27-1 in 1-1/2 seasons in the league.

Schreiner dropped to 3-13 overall and to 3-7 in the SCAC.

Ashley Jacobsen (Marion/Marion) belted a two-run home run in the first game. Jacobsen went 1-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBI in the early game. In the late game, she added three hits, two runs scored and an RBI.

Nicole Snow (Tomball/Klein Oak) brought home a pair of runs in the 8-0 win.
Hope Estes (Willis/Willis) contributed two hits, a run scored and four RBI in the 10-0 victory.

Grace Estes (Willis/Willis), Jacobsen, and
Jennifer Gallagher (Missouri City/Elkins) each scored a pair of runs in the late game. Estes collected two RBI.

Taylor Grissom (Spring/Klein Collins) won her seventh game in her seventh start of the season. Grissom, the 2014 SCAC Pitcher of the Year, lowered her ERA to 0.19 in 36-1/3 innings pitched and moved to 7-0.

Sunday against Schreiner, Grissom struck out four, walked one and surrendered just two hits.
