Taylor Grissom each tossed complete-game, one-hit shutouts as the Bulldogs cruised to 16-0 and 8-0 non-conference wins Tuesday over Concordia Texas.

At TLU's Ed Kruse Stadium, Morck Softball Field, both games ended in the fifth inning due to the eight-run rule.

Pizana, a sophomore right-hander from Odem (Odem), improved to 2-1 with the win. Pizana struck out eight and walked two. She allowed only a fifth-inning single.

Grissom, a junior right-hander from Spring (Klein Collins), made her first start of the season. Last season's Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year, Grissom allowed only a third-inning single. She struck out two and walked one.

The Bulldogs moved to 3-3 overall. Concordia dropped to 2-3.

TLU pounded out 12 hits in the first game, the home-opener for the Bulldogs.

Sophomore left-fielder
Nicole Snow (Tomball/Klein Oak) went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and four RBI. Snow hit a two-run single in the first inning and two-run double in the second inning.

Heather Hummel (Stratford/Houston) also went 2-for-3 with four RBI. Hummel tripled to right-center to score two in the second and doubled down the third-base line in the third to drive in another two.

In game two, the Bulldogs broke open a scoreless game with two runs in the third, three runs in the fourth and three more in the fifth.

Grace Estes (Willis/Willis) drove in a pair of runs and scored one, and
Jacquelyn Brown (Vidor/Vidor) scored three runs, went 2-for-3 and drove in a pair. She also stole three bases.

TLU does not play again until next Tuesday. The Bulldogs host the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor at 3 p.m. at Ed Kruse Stadium. TLU will have live video and live stats on tlubulldogs.com.
