SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Illinois Wesleyan made 14 of its 31 three-point attempts and handed No. 25 Texas Lutheran a 92-86 defeat at the Trinity University Holiday Classic on Saturday.

In Trinity's Sams Gymnasium, the Titans had an early 12-point lead in the second half, but the Bulldogs rallied to take a one-point lead with 7:33 remaining in the game.

Sterling Holmes' layup put TLU in front 68-67. After a Titans bucket, Jordan Kouremetis gave TLU its final lead of the night with a layup at the 6:25 mark.

Illinois Wesleyan took the lead for good with a 9-0 run that stretched from 5:23 to 1:22, when Kouremetis scored on a layup that cut the Titans' lead to six.

TLU had to foul in the final 80 seconds, and Illinois Wesleyan made eight of its final 10 free throws to seal the win.

TLU, ranked 25th in the latest D3hoops.com poll, dropped to 6-2 overall. Illinois Wesleyan improved to 6-4.

Sterling Holmes led TLU with 27 points, six rebounds and two assists. Jordan Kouremetis added 20 points. He made five three-pointers.

Bryce Dolan made four three-pointers for the Titans and finished with 19 points. Six different Titans made three-pointers. Andy Stempel added 16 points (two three-pointers), six assists and five rebounds.

TLU made 12 of its 30 three-point attempts.

Zach Behr scored 15 for TLU and added six rebounds. Harris Jowell added 10 points, six rebounds, and two steals.

The Bulldogs continue play in the Trinity Holiday Classic with a 3 p.m. contest Sunday in Sams Gymnasium against Alma College (Mich.). Links to live video and live stats can be found on tlubulldogs.com.
