Senior forward Sioned Kirkpatrick named 1st Team Academic All-District

SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran senior forward Sioned Kirkpatrick was named Thursday to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 8 First Team for NCAA Division III Women's Soccer and claimed a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot.

Kirkpatrick (San Antonio/Smithson Valley) collected one of the three All-District 8 First Team spots reserved for forwards.

Only 11 total women's soccer student-athletes (in Canada and the 21 U.S. states that make up the district) received Academic All-District 8 First Team honors. The team consists of a goalkeeper, four defenders, three midfielders, and three forwards.

Kirkpatrick was the lone player from the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference to receive the Academic All-District Women's Soccer honor.

A four-year starter for the Bulldogs, Kirkpatrick received the CoSIDA Academic All-District honor for the first time in her career.

Kirkpatrick holds a 3.59 cumulative grade-point average as a molecular biology and chemistry major.

TLU's leading scorer in each of her four years on the team, Kirkpatrick is the third all-time leading goal scorer in TLU Women's Soccer history. She has scored 46 goals (entering Thursday's road match at Southwestern University).

Kirkpatrick also ranks fifth on the all-time TLU Women's Soccer assists career list (with 16), and she is third all-time in career points (with 108).

This year, Kirkpatrick leads the SCAC in goals, with 11, while posting 24 points on the season, second best in the conference. She also has totaled 55 shots, which leads all conference players.

Voting for Academic All-District and Academic All-America® is conducted by members of College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The Academic All-America Team will be announced Nov. 21.

To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.

Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 20,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
