SEGUIN, Texas -- Kayla McConnell scored for Schreiner University in the sixth minute, and the Mountaineers defense shutout Texas Lutheran for 90 minutes in a 1-0 home defeat for the Bulldogs at TLU's Gustafson Field.

Erin Rose to give Schreiner the lone goal it would need.
The victory put Schreiner in position to grab the No. 2 seed for the upcoming Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship tournament. The Mountaineers improved to 10-4-2 overall and to 7-2-1 in the SCAC.
TLU fell to 10-4-2 overall and to 5-4-2 in the SCAC. The Bulldogs currently sit fourth in the SCAC with a 6 p.m. Friday road match remaining against Southwestern University. The Bulldogs could grab the No. 3 seed with a win Friday over Southwestern.
In Sunday's match, Schreiner held a slight edge in total shots, 12-10, and shots on goal were even at 5-5.
TLU senior
Sioned Kirkpatrick had four total shots and one shot on goal. She had TLU's best scoring chance when she hit a free kick that glanced off the left post in the second half.
Rose made four saves for TLU, and Schreiner keeper Taylor Roberson collected five saves.

Taylor Vatuna, and
Kelly Lochte - at the conclusion of the match.
