COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- After a win and a loss Saturday and a 2-2 overall performance at this weekend's Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Cross-Divisional Tournament, Texas Lutheran Volleyball secured the No. 3 seed for the upcoming SCAC Championship tournament.
Saturday at Colorado College, the Bulldogs defeated University of Dallas in three sets and fell in three sets to No. 8-ranked Colorado College. On Friday, the Bulldogs defeated Centenary (La.) in three and fell in five sets to Austin College.
TLU finished with an 8-6 SCAC regular-season record - one win ahead of Trinity and Austin College in the standings. Trinity received the No. 4 seed with the tiebreaker against Austin.
Colorado College (14-0) and Southwestern (12-2) captured the top two seeds for the conference tournament. University of Dallas (4-10) grabbed the sixth and final spot in the tournament.
In Saturday's action against Dallas, TLU pulled out a 25-20, 25-17, 25-13 victory with 14 kills from
Kristin Fording and 10 kills from
Brette Threadgill.
Anna Keeling added nine kills.
Carlie Childres and
Mackenzie Zamarripa contributed five and three blocks, respectively.
Megan Dugie registered 29 digs, and
Kelcie Ingram and
Kaci Pecht delivered 22 and 17 assists, respectively, against Dallas.
In the 25-17, 25-19, 25-14 loss to Colorado College, Threadgill posted nine kills, and Fording added seven kills. Keeling finished with three blocks, and Ingram and Pecht each registered 12 assists. Dugie recorded 17 digs.
Colorado College improved to 29-2 overall. TLU dropped to 16-7 overall.
TLU has three non-conference matches on its remaining regular-season schedule. The Bulldogs host the Halloween Classic at Tostengard Activity Center (Susan Duke Court) and play Sul Ross State (2 p.m.) and Concordia (6 p.m.) on Friday and Hardin-Simmons (4 p.m.) on Saturday.
The SCAC Championship tournament runs the following weekend, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 6-7, in Georgetown, Texas at Southwestern University.
