LONGVIEW, Texas â€" The Texas Lutheran women's soccer team grabbed its first win of the season with a 2-1 road victory over LeTourneau on Saturday afternoon.
 
The win improved the Bulldogs' record to 1-3 on the year, while LeTourneau dropped to 1-3.
 
Both of the goals for TLU came early in the game. Maegan Idrogo (McAllen, Texas) put the Bulldogs up in just the 12th minute. She took a pass from Kelly Lochte (New Braunfels, Texas) and ripped a shot from 20-yards out that blazed past the LeTourneau keeper for a go-ahead goal. Idrogo, a sophomore, led the team with six shots and three shots on goal.
 
Ten minutes later, in the 22nd minute, Claudia Trevino (San Antonio, Texas) doubled the Bulldogs' advantage. She scored on a breakaway on a pass from Taylor Vatuna (Cypress, Texas).
 
It looked like the Bulldogs would head to halftime with that two-goal advantage, but LeTourneau got on the scoreboard in the 40th minute behind a goal from Stephanie Vana.
 
LeTourneau made a concerted push to find an equalizer in the second half, outshooting the Bulldogs 7-6. Despite their best efforts though, the Yellow Jackets were stymied by Erin Rose (San Antonio, Texas) in the final 45 minutes. The sophomore made four saves in the period to keep the Bulldogs in the lead.
 
Conference competition looms next week for Texas Lutheran. The Bulldogs will open up SCAC play on the road against Schreiner at 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12.
