SEGUIN â€" A two-goal deficit within the game's first five minutes proved too deep of a hole to dig out of for the Texas Lutheran women's soccer team, as it fell 6-0 to No. 3 Trinity at Gustafson Field on Sunday afternoon.
Â
The Tigers scored five goals in the first half, including the two in the first five minutes of action to secure the win.
Â
The loss dropped TLU's record to 3-6-1 and 2-2 in SCAC play. It was also the Bulldogs' second straight loss. The Tigers improved to 9-0-1 with the win, and 4-0 in the conference.
Â
Sunday's game was initially scheduled to be played in San Antonio, but rain forced a change of plan.
Â
The game's first goal was scored by Trinity's Amanda Boe in the fourth minute. Just one minute later, the Tigers made it 2-0 after a score from Kelsey Falcone, the SCAC's leading scorer.
Â
After the two quick goals, play settled down for a bit, though Trinity continued to put pressure on the Bulldogs. The Tigers ended up with 33 shots in the first half and 17 shots on goal. For the game, Trinity tallied 52 total shots while holding TLU to none.
Â
Bulldog senior keeper
Devin Crump (Texas City, Texas) made the start in goal. She played the entire first half, making 12 saves.
Erin Rose (San Antonio, Texas) played the second half and allowed one goal while making nine saves.
Â
Trinity received goals from Jordan Leeper (24th minute), Nicole Gardini (35th minute) and Hannah Kuhl (45th minute) to end the half with the 5-0 advantage.
Â
It looked like the Bulldogs would hold the Tigers without a goal the entire second half until Trinity's Meredith Licata earned a penalty kick. She took the penalty herself and put it away in the 90th minute for Trinity's sixth goal.
