GEORGETOWN, Texas â€" Texas Lutheran Women's Soccer dropped its first SCAC clash of the season and had its four-game unbeaten streak snapped on Friday, falling 1-0 on the road to Southwestern.

After a scoreless first half, Southwestern's Ana Gutierrez put the Pirates on the board in the 50th minute. She scored an unassisted goal, knocking a shot off the post and past TLU keeper
Erin Rose for what turned out to be the game-winning score.

The loss dropped the Bulldogs' record to 3-5-1 overall and 2-1 in conference play. The Pirates improved to 2-7-1 overall and 2-1 in the SCAC.

The Bulldogs outshot the Pirates 9-7 in the game, with both teams tallying two shots on goal. TLU had a few chances, including 13 corner kicks, but just couldn't find the equalizer. After the Gutierrez goal, the Bulldogs notched four shots and six corner kicks the rest of the game, while holding the Pirates without a shot.

Vanessa Espinoza (San Antonio, Texas) and
Zoe Gulick (New Braunfels, Texas) each tallied two shots.

The Bulldogs managed five shots in the first half, while Southwestern tallied six. The Pirates notched the only shot on goal in the first 45 minutes of play, with Rose (San Antonio, Texas) making her only save of the game in the 43rd minute.
