SEGUIN â€" Less than 24 hours after winning its second conference game, the Texas Lutheran women's soccer team had its four-game unbeaten streak snapped in a 2-0 non-conference home loss to Howard Payne on Saturday afternoon.

The Bulldogs, battling the humidity and the back-to-back games, gave up both goals in the game's final 15 minutes.

The eventual game winner came in the 75th minute. Howard Payne's Marlene Gillespie received a pass from Samantha Mullins in the box. She chipped a shot over the outstretched arms of TLU keeper
Nichole Glazener for the first goal.

Just five minutes later, in the 80th minute, Taylor Bicknell made it 2-0. A long cross from Marley Zochert put Bicknell in position to put away the goal.

The loss dropped Texas Lutheran's record to 3-4-1 on the year and snapped its aforementioned unbeaten streak. Howard Payne improved to 3-3.

A day after outshooting Centenary 20-6, the Bulldogs were outshot 17-4 for the game, and 10-1 in the first half. Howard Payne ended up with nine shots on goal compared to one for Texas Lutheran.

Glazener (Pearland, Texas) took the loss in net for the Bulldogs. The freshman gave up the two second-half goals after entering the game at the start of the half. She made four saves, as well.

Devin Crump (Texas City, Texas) got the start in goal. She tallied three saves in the first half without allowing a score.

In an effort to ease the burden of playing the second of back-to-back games, TLU coach
Larry Schaffer played 21 players in the game.

The Bulldogs' best scoring chance came after getting down 2-0.
Sioned Kirkpatrick, scorer of three goals in the last two games before this one, took a shot that rattled off the crossbar in the 83rd minute.

Texas Lutheran will jump back into conference play next weekend, as it heads out on the road to take on Southwestern at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26.
