Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer comes back from two-goal deficit to earn road draw vs. Huston-Tillotson

AUSTIN â€" The goals were flying fast and easy at Whitaker Intramural Fields as the Texas Lutheran women's soccer team scored two goals in the final 10 minutes of regulation to earn a 4-4 draw against Huston-Tillotson on Sunday afternoon.

The Bulldogs found themselves down 4-2 with time ticking away after Huston-Tillotson scored in the 80th minute.

The quick-hitting comeback started just seconds later with Sioned Kirkpatrick scoring her second goal of the game in the 81st minute, bringing the Bulldogs back to within just one score.

TLU continued to push for the equalizer as the clock continued to tick towards zeroes. The Bulldogs finally found their chance on a free kick. Sophomore Tara Armstrong (Lincoln, Calif.) took a perfectly placed shot that bounced in front of the HTU keeper and into the net.

With the barrage of goals that came in the first 90 minutes of regulation, it was halfway expected for one team to find one more goal in overtime. Surprisingly though, just two shots were recorded in the two overtime periods as the game ended in a draw.

The tie moved the Bulldogs' record to 2-3-1 on the year.

The first half was relatively low scoring as well. Huston-Tillotson took the early lead, scoring in the 16th minute to go up 1-0.

The Bulldogs, playing their second game in as many days, tied things up before halftime when freshman Max Soto scored her first goal of her TLU career in the 36th minute. The goal came off an assist from Karla Beltran.

Huston-Tillotson jumped back in front early in the second half with goals in the 51st and 59th minutes to take a 3-1 lead.

Kirkpatrick (San Antonio, Texas) brought the Bulldogs back within one goal with the second goal of her season. She took a shot from the top of the box that sailed into the upper left corner. The goal came off an assist from Marisol Ramos (San Antonio, Texas).

Texas Lutheran ended the game with 13 shots and six shots on goal. Huston-Tillotson recorded 17 shots and 10 shots on target.

Devin Crump (Texas City, Texas) and Nichole Glazener (Pearland, Texas) each played 55 minutes in goal for the Bulldogs. Crump played the entire first half and first overtime period, making four saves and allowing one goal. Glazener played the second half and second overtime, making two saves and allowing three goals.

The Bulldogs will dive back into SCAC play with a home matchup against Centenary at 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19. Live stats will be available via tlubulldogs.com.
