SEGUIN â€" Monday afternoon's 1-0 loss to Concordia Texas had a familiar feel to it for the Texas Lutheran women's soccer team. For the second straight game, the Bulldogs took a scoreless game into the late minutes before the opponent broke through with an eventual game winner.

The Bulldogs and Tornados were scoreless until the 79th minute. That's when Concordia's Jordan James received a low cross into the box from Jordan Davis and put away the game's only goal.

The loss dropped Texas Lutheran's record to 0-2 on the year, while Concordia improved to 2-0.

Monday's game at Gustafson was not a complete mirror image to TLU's season-opening 1-0 road loss to Mary Hardin-Baylor, though. On Monday, the Bulldogs created far more chances than they found against UMHB. After recording one shot on Friday, the Bulldogs tallied 11 against the Tornados.

Nine of those shots came in the second half, along with arguably TLU's best scoring opportunity. In the 74th minute, sophomore Claudia Trevino (San Antonio, Texas) found herself on a breakaway, with just the Concordia keeper to beat. A goal would have put the Bulldogs in the lead and put more pressure on the Tornados. Unfortunately, Trevino's shot was kept out with a terrific save from Concordia keeper Kila Hartom.

Trevino had another chance just a few minutes later, but ripped a shot just wide of the target.

Those two chances weren't the only ones created by the Bulldogs. In the first half, just less than 21 minutes into action, Sioned Kirkpatrick used some quality ball skills to get into scoring position. She took a shot that beat the Tornado keeper, but ricocheted off the post and back into play.

The Bulldogs were outshot 17-11 in the game, with Concordia putting five shots on target compared to four for TLU.

TLU senior keeper Devin Crump (Texas City, Texas) took the loss in net, entering the game at the start of the second half. She made three saves and allowed the lone goal. Erin Rose (San Antonio, Texas) started the game in goal, keeping the game scoreless and making one save in her 45 minutes of action.

Kirkpatrick (San Antonio, Texas) led the team with four shots. Trevino was second with two.

The Bulldogs will look to get off the snide next week with a pair of games in eastern Texas. They take on East Texas Baptist in Tyler, Texas at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5. They face off against LeTourneau on the road at 2 p.m. the next day.
