KERRVILLE, Texas --
Keaton Bohrmann hit a two-run home run and
Aaron Aleman went 5-1/3 innings for his third victory of the season as Texas Lutheran downed Schreiner 5-1 in Kerrville, Texas on Friday.
In the first game of a non-conference three-game series between the two schools, TLU turned a 1-0 deficit into a 5-1 lead by the middle of the seventh inning.
TLU improved to 9-4 overall. Schreiner dropped to 5-10.
Keaton Bohrmann's (San Antonio/Johnson) two-run homer came in the sixth. The home run followed a
Derek Kanas double.
The Bulldogs' top four hitters -
Tony Gennusa,
Zach Jacobs,
Christian DeBlanc and Kanas - were a combined 9-for-20.
Gennusa (Kingwood/Kingwood) had three hits and an RBI. Jacobs (Brenham/Brenham), DeBlanc (Kingwood/Kingwood) and Kanas (New Braunfels/Canyon) each went 2-for-5 with a run scored.
Kanas doubled twice, and Gennusa and DeBlanc each doubled.
Aleman (Corpus Christi/Incarnate Word Academy) struck out four and walked three in working into the sixth inning. Aleman (3-1) allowed six hits and one earned run.
TLU relievers
Thomas Harwell (Houston/Atascocita),
Kyle Simmons (Las Vegas, Nev./Silverado) and
Conner Capdau (Sugar Land/Lamar Consolidated) did not allow a hit to the Mountaineers over the final 3-2/3 innings.
TLU and Schreiner continue the non-conference series Saturday with a 1 p.m. doubleheader in Kerrville, Texas.
TLU and Schreiner are members of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, but this weekend's series does not count in the conference standings. The teams play the conference series April 17-18 in Seguin.
