TLU Women notch sixth-straight victory, down Austin College 88-67



SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Women's Basketball stayed within a game of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference lead and won its sixth-straight game with a 88-67 victory Saturday over Austin College.

In TLU's Memorial Gymnasium, the Bulldogs scored 53 second-half points and made 13 three-pointers (nine in the second half). The Bulldogs shot 50 percent from the three-point line and 46 percent from the field.

Austin College made just 33.3 percent of its total shots and 33.3 percent of its three-point attempts.

TLU improved to 15-5 overall and to 7-2 in the SCAC. Austin dropped to 9-9 overall and to 4-4 in the SCAC.

Savannah Hight (San Antonio/Brandeis) and Karisa Cantu (San Antonio/MacArthur) each scored 15 for the Bulldogs. Hight added five rebounds and two steals.

Taylor Dydalewicz (Dripping Springs/Lake Travis) recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, and Bianca Casas (Edinburg/Edinburg) chipped in 11 points and five assists.

Dalia Camargo (Mission/Mission) dished out seven of TLU's 23 assists.

Brittany Stepanski and Erin Riley scored 17 and 16, respectively, for Austin College. Riley added six rebounds.

TLU has won 12 of its last 14 games. The 15 wins in 2013-14 are the most for the Bulldogs since the 1998-99 team won 15 and lost 11.

The Bulldogs will look for win No. 16 on Friday, Feb. 7 at the University of Dallas. The Bulldogs and Crusaders tip-off at 8 p.m. that night in Irving, Texas.

TLU's game with Dallas is the first of two road games that weekend. The Bulldogs face Colorado College at 2 p.m. (MST) on Sunday, Feb. 9. The game will be TLU's first in Colorado Springs, Colo.
