SEGUIN â€" Texas Lutheran struggled from long range in the second half, while Austin College hit eight second-half threes as the Bulldogs dropped their second straight game, losing 78-71 to the 'Roos on Saturday afternoon.

The loss dropped TLU's record to 7-12 on the year and 2-7 in conference play. Austin College improved to 6-11 (2-6 SCAC).

The three-point shot was a difference maker Saturday, with the 'Roos finishing with 11 made threes compared to four for the Bulldogs. The outside production was a huge part of a 25-10 Austin College second-half run that turned the tied of the game and took a 46-44 TLU lead and flipped it into a 67-54 Austin College advantage.

The Bulldogs' numbers from the field were relatively similar to Austin College's, with the Bulldogs finishing with 40 percent shooting on the day compared to 45 percent for the 'Roos.

Jordan Kouremetis (San Antonio, Texas) led the way for Texas Lutheran, scoring 17 points on 6-of-14 shooting and chipping in with three rebounds and two assists.

Thomas Verm (Sealy, Texas) was the other Bulldog to score in double figures, finishing one rebound shy of a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds.

Austin College was led by Jeremy Swisher, who scored a game-high 20 points. Fourteen of those points came in the second half where he knocked down four 3-pointers.

Texas Lutheran showed some resolve a number of times Saturday. The Bulldogs found themselves down 11 points early in the first half, but battled back and eventually went into the halftime locker room clinging to a 35-34 lead.

The second-half barrage of 3-pointers pushed their deficit back out to double digits, but once again, the Bulldogs kept fighting, even closing the Austin College lead to just four with less than two minutes to go. That would be the closest the Bulldogs would get though, with the 'Roos making their free throws down the stretch to close out the game.

Texas Lutheran will look to snap its two-game losing streak on the road next weekend against Dallas and Colorado College. The Bulldogs face Dallas at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7 before closing the weekend out against Colorado College at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9. Live video and stats will be available via TLUBulldogs.com.
