GEORGETOWN, Texas â€" The Texas Lutheran volleyball squad held a 14-12 advantage in the fifth set, needing just one more point to take down Millsaps in its opening match of the Southwestern Boo Classic, but the Majors rolled off four straight points to hand the Bulldogs a tough loss.
 
After dropping the first set, Texas Lutheran won the next two before Millsaps closed with a fourth-set win and the heart-breaking fifth. The Bulldogs fell 16-25, 25-18, 25-16, 14-25, 14-16.
 
The loss dropped the Bulldogs' record to 17-12 on the year, while Millsaps improved to 21-3.
 
The Bulldogs were good on defense, holding Millsaps to just .094 hitting on the day. Unfortunately, TLU hit .064. The most notable statistic was TLU's 125 digs, the second most its had all season. This performance is coming on the heels of last week's 134-dig effort against Dallas.
 
Leading the way in the digs category was Megan Lee (Universal City, Texas) and her 38 digs. The senior added two assists and two aces to her day, as well. Four other Bulldogs finished with double-digit digs. Both Megan Dugie (San Antonio, Texas) and Kristin Fording (San Antonio, Texas) notched at least 20.
 
Fording recorded the double-double as the only Bulldog with double-digit kills. She finished with 12, giving her two straight double-doubles and three in her last five matches.
 
The Bulldogs will finish up both the Boo Classic and the regular season tomorrow with two more matches. First, they will face off against Texas-Tyler at 11 a.m. for the second time this season. The season wraps up against Our Lady of the Lake at 4 p.m.
