SAN ANTONIO â€" The Texas Lutheran women's soccer team fell 9-1 to No. 3 Trinity on the road Sunday.
Â
The loss dropped the Bulldogs' record to 7-8-1 for the year. They are now 6-4 in conference play, still very much alive for the two seed in the SCAC Championship just a few weeks away.
Â
The first Trinity goal came in the second minute by way of Kimberly Polasek. She was assisted by Kelsey Falcone. The Tigers would score three more times in the half, including two goals from Falcone, to head into the halftime locker room with a 4-0 advantage.
Â
Neither team was able to score for almost the first 20 minutes of the second half. TLU freshman
Zoe Gulick (New Braunfels, Texas) put an end to the scoring drought by putting away her third goal of the season. She headed in a pass from
Tara Armstrong (Lincoln, Calif.) for the goal.
Â
The Tigers would answer with two goals in a two-minute span to go up 6-1 in the 72nd minute. Three more goals would come late in the game to make the score 9-1.
Â
Falcone, Polasek and Emily Jorgens all scored twice for the Tigers. Falcone led Trinity with 10 shots and seven shots on goal.
Â
Gulick, a freshman defender, was the only Bulldog to tally a shot in the game. That header that found the back of the net was TLU's only shot.
Â
The trio of
Erin Rose (San Antonio, Texas),
Devin Crump (Texas City, Texas) and
Nichole Glazener (Pearland, Texas) split time in goal for the Bulldogs. Rose made nine saves and allowed five goals in almost 31 minutes. Crump allowed two goals while making four saves in 30 minutes, while Glazener had four saves and allowed two goals in her 30 minutes.
Â
Just two more games remain on the schedule for the Bulldogs. They wrap up the road portion of their schedule next week when they travel to Shreveport, La. to take on Centenary at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24.
