Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Offense shines in Women's Soccer's 3-0 home win over Dallas

SEGUIN â€" Zoe Gulick scored the game-winning goal and added an assist later on, helping the Texas Lutheran offense to a big day in the Bulldogs' 3-0 home win over the University of Dallas on Sunday.

It was a welcomed offensive explosion for the Bulldogs, as Sunday marked the first time in eight games they've scored more than one goal. It was also just the second time this year they scored more than twice in a game.

The impressive win moved the Bulldogs' record to 6-7-1 overall and 5-3 in the SCAC, keeping them solidly in fourth, just a loss behind both Dallas and Southwestern for second place in the conference standings.

The offense didn't take long to get going on Sunday. Gulick (New Braunfels, Texas) scored the game's first goal in the 15th minute. The score game off a corner kick from Sioned Kirkpatrick (San Antonio, Texas), who lifted the ball into the box where it knocked off several players before Gulick knocked it in.

The Bulldogs would play the rest of the half out without allowing a goal, taking the 1-0 lead into the halftime locker room.

They came out of that locker room and almost immediately doubled their advantage. Once again, the combination of Gulick and Kirkpatrick combined for a score, only this time the roles were reversed. It was Gulick who set up Kirkpatrick with a long pass. Kirkpatrick was able to finish the breakaway chance in the 48th minute.

The Bulldogs put the game away in the 74th minute when Kelly Lochte (New Braunfels, Texas) scored her second goal of the season. The goal came off a pass from Claudia Trevino (San Antonio, Texas).

While the final two TLU goals were scored in the second half, it was the first-half dominance that provided the foundation for the win. The Bulldogs outshot Dallas 16-0 in the first half, finishing with a 22-5 shot advantage for the game.

Erin Rose (San Antonio, Texas) and Devin Crump (Texas City, Texas) combined for the shutout. Rose was not forced into any save chances, while Crump made two saves in her 34 minutes of play.

Another home game awaits the Bulldogs next week when they play host to Southwestern at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17. Live video and live stats will be available via tlubulldogs.com.
