SAN ANTONIO â€" The Texas Lutheran volleyball team notched its second straight sweep and snapped a two-match conference losing streak with a 3-0 win over Schreiner on Friday.

The Bulldogs powered their way to a 25-15, 25-19, 25-19 sweep, and improved their record to 15-7 (4-4 SCAC) in the process. Schreiner dropped to 1-19 (1-7 SCAC) with the loss.

Brette Threadgill (Sinton, Texas) was absolutely dominant against the Mountaineers, finishing with a team-high 13 kills on a season-high .545 hitting percentage. She was the only Bulldog with double-digit kills on the night.

Katie Darst (Euless, Texas) led the way with 28 assists. Three different Bulldogs tallied double-digit digs, with
Megan Lee (Universal City, Texas) leading the team with 21.

The Bulldog defense held Schreiner to just .088 hitting on Friday. It was the their second sweep of the Mountaineers this season. In the first matchup, they held Schreiner to .112 hitting.

The first set was all TLU, as the Bulldogs jumped out to a 12-3 lead to take immediate control. Threadgill was on top of her game early, notching four kills and hitting .667 in the opening set. The Mountaineers were held to just .000 hitting in the frame.

The second set was much more balanced to start, with Schreiner leading 7-6 early on. The Bulldogs would score five straight points to take a four-point lead. They would never lead by less than two the rest of the way.

The Bulldogs finished off the match by once again jumping out to an early lead in the third set. They scored seven of the set's first eight points and built a 10-5 lead. Schreiner would answer with an 11-2 run though, and gain a 16-12 advantage. TLU put an end to that with a 9-2 run of its own to retake the lead.

Texas Lutheran will finish off the weekend with a pair of tough conference matches tomorrow against Southwestern and No. 16 Trinity. The Bulldogs face Southwestern at 10:30 a.m. before closing at 5 p.m. against the Tigers. Live video and live stats are available via tlubulldogs.com.
