SAN ANTONIO â€" The Texas Lutheran volleyball team dropped its final two games of the weekend on Saturday, suffering sweeps to both Southwestern and No. 16 Trinity.

The two losses dropped the Bulldogs' record to 15-9 on the year and 4-6 in the SCAC.

In Saturday's first match, the Bulldogs fell 22-25, 20-25, 12-25 to the Pirates.

It was just the fifth this time season TLU was held below .100 hitting for a match. The Bulldogs hit .087 against the Pirates, while Southwestern hit .200.

The Texas Lutheran offense was held in check, with no players notching more than seven kills.
Brette Threadgill (Sinton, Texas) and
Anna Keeling (Houston, Texas) led the team with seven kills each.

The Bulldogs battled back from a deficit in the first set. After finding themselves down 19-14, they cranked out six straight points to gain a 20-19 advantage, appearing to take control of the set. Unfortunately, the Pirates rebounded, closing with five of the set's final seven points.

Texas Lutheran fell behind 5-1 to start the second set, but once again showed some moxie by coming back. They rattled off a 6-2 run to tie the set at 7-7. The Pirates answered with a 6-0 run of their own and never relinquished the lead again.

The weekend wrapped up with a 20-25, 15-25, 22-25 loss at the hands of the nationally-ranked Tigers.

Once again, the Bulldog offense was held in check, as TLU hit .008, its lowest hitting percentage of the season.

Threadgill finished with a team-high 11 kills (.172 hitting).
Kristin Fording (San Antonio, Texas) notched seven kills, but no other Bulldog tallied more than three.

Megan Lee (Universal City, Texas) was one of four Bulldogs to tally double-digit digs. The senior finished with 17 to go along with three service aces.

The Bulldogs have a week off before wrapping up conference play with four home matches in two days. The fun starts with two matches on Saturday, Oct. 25 before wrapping up with two more contests on Sunday.
