TLU Women improve to 12-5, 4-2 SCAC with 66-55 win over Centenary (La.)


SHREVEPORT, La. -- Texas Lutheran Women's Basketball won its third straight game and its 12th of the season with a 66-55 road win Friday night over Centenary College (La.).

The Bulldogs improved to 12-5 overall and to 4-2 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Centenary fell to 0-14 and to 0-5 in the SCAC.

TLU's victory gives the women's basketball program its first 12-win season since the 2009-10 season. The Bulldogs are on track for their first winning season in women's basketball since the 1998-99 campaign.

In Centenary's Gold Dome on Friday, TLU junior point guard Karisa Cantu (San Antonio/MacArthur) scored 14 points, dished out four assists, collected four rebounds and tallied a pair of steals.

Cantu was one of three Bulldogs to hit double figures in scoring. Freshman guard/forward Savannah Hight (San Antonio/Brandeis) added 11 points and four rebounds, and sophomore forward Taylor Dydalewicz (Dripping Springs/Lake Travis) contributed 10 points.

Bulldog center Chelsey Stolle (Falls City/Falls City) collected nine rebounds, eight points and three blocks.

TLU led 32-22 at the half and opened up a 24-point lead midway through the second half. The Bulldogs never trailed in the game.

The Bulldogs out-rebounded the Ladies 57-42 overall and 21-11 on the offensive glass.

TLU continues its SCAC road swing with a 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon contest in Sherman, Texas against Austin College. Live video and live stats will be available from acroos.com.

The Kangaroos are a half-game in front of TLU in the SCAC standings. Austin College and TLU were second and third, respectively, in the SCAC standings entering Friday's games. The Kangaroos defeated Schreiner in Sherman on Friday.
