SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- In a back-and-forth battle for the early Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference lead, the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs hit a cold shooting spell in the second half and fell Friday to preseason SCAC favorite and No. 25-ranked Trinity 70-64.

TLU's six-game win streak came to a halt. The Bulldogs dropped to 9-4 overall and to 1-1 in the SCAC. Trinity improved to 10-3 overall and to 2-0 in the SCAC.

In Trinity's Sams Gymnasium, TLU enjoyed a seven-point lead in the first half, led by one, 34-33, at the half and held a six-point lead with 12:30 to play in the game.
The Tigers rallied to take a nine-point lead with under 10 seconds to play thanks to a 19-10 run that took nearly all of the final six minutes.

Trinity held TLU to 19-of-82 (23.2 percent) shooting for the entire game. In the second half, TLU's shooting woes dipped to 8-of-46 (17.4 percent).
The Bulldogs missed 63 total shots against the Tigers.
Trinity shot a respectable 40.7 percent from the field, 37.5 percent in the first half and 44.4 percent in the second half.
The Bulldogs did make four more three-pointers than the Tigers.
Despite the poor shooting, TLU nearly pulled out the game with 24 offensive rebounds and 19 made free throws. The Bulldogs out-rebounded Trinity 59-53 overall and 24-9 on the offensive glass.
Taylor Dydalewicz (Dripping Springs/Lake Travis) paced the Bulldogs with 21 points and eight rebounds. Dydalewicz made four of her five three-point attempts and six of her 15 total shots.
Karisa Cantu (San Antonio/MacArthur) added 10 points, five rebounds and three assists.
Natalie Vella (Corpus Christi/Moody),
Chelsey Stolle (Falls City/Falls City) and
Savannah Hight (San Antonio/Brandeis) each collected seven rebounds.
Anecia Richardson and Murphy Burns led Trinity in scoring and rebounding. Richardson scored 20 and grabbed 10 rebounds. Burns chipped in 20 and recorded nine rebounds.
TLU must rebound from the road loss to Trinity and hit the road for Saturday's 6 p.m. conference contest at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas.
