TYLER, Texas â€" Despite eight saves from goalkeeper
Erin Rose, a second half goal spelled defeat for the Texas Lutheran women's soccer team as it lost 1-0 to Texas Tyler on the road Saturday.
The loss dropped the Bulldogs' record to 1-3 on the season.
The Patriots (3-0) scored the game's only goal in the 65th minute when April Goodman finally beat Rose and found the back of the net.
That the game was scoreless up until that point was a testament to Rose (San Antonio, Texas) and her heroics in goal. The freshman made those previously mentioned eight saves to keep the Bulldogs in the game, including five in the first half.
After scorching LeTourneau for seven goals yesterday, the Bulldogs couldn't get their offense rolling against the Patriots. As a team, Texas Lutheran was outshot 29-5 on the day. Two of those five shots were on goal.
Vanessa Espinoza (San Antonio, Texas), who scored a goal in the previous game against LeTourneau, gave the Bulldogs good minutes off the bench, leading the team with two shots, including one on goal.
Texas Lutheran will have a short respite after playing two matches in just over 24 hours. The Bulldogs will open up their inaugural SCAC season in their next match when they host Schreiner at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13.
