KERRVILLE, Texas â€" A goal scored just a minute into action was enough to down the Texas Lutheran women's soccer team on Friday in a 1-0 road loss to Schreiner in the regular-season finale.

Schreiner scored the game's only goal just a minute and 10 seconds into the game. Monique Hutcheson was the Mountaineer who scored what turned out the game winner. The goal was assisted by Gabrielle Watson.

The loss, Texas Lutheran's third straight, dropped the Bulldogs to 9-8-1 on the year and 6-5-1 in SCAC play. The loss did nothing to hurt the Bulldogs' standing in the conference though, as they secured third place after Austin College lost to Centenary on Friday. Schreiner was eliminated from postseason competition after needing Centenary to lose to Austin College.

The 2013 SCAC Women's Soccer Championship, hosted by Texas Lutheran, will kick off with the quarterfinals at 1 and 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8. The top two seeds (Trinity and Southwestern) will have byes into the semifinals, which are set for 1 and 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9. The final is set for 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10.

After allowing that early goal against Schreiner, the Bulldogs and Mountaineers played to a stalemate. The Bulldogs held the Mountaineers to just two more shots the rest of the way and ended up outshooting Schreiner 6-3 on the day.

Unfortunately for TLU, only two of those shots were on target. Both of the shots on goal came from
Kelly Lochte (Seguin, Texas).

As a team, the Bulldogs tried to mount a second-half rally, outshooting the Mountaineers 4-1, but none of those four shots were on goal.

Erin Rose (San Antonio, Texas) started the game in goal for the Bulldogs and played the first half, making one save while allowing the early goal.

Devin Crump (Texas City, Texas) entered the game at the start of the second half and finished it off, making one save and keeping the score at 1-0.
