SEGUIN, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran men's soccer team (0-3) suffered a 4-0 defeat to NAIA member, Texas A&M-Victoria, Sunday afternoon at Gustafson Field.
Sunday's first matchup was the first time the two programs have faced off since 2012. With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 0-4 all-time to the Jaguars.
A&M-Victoria grabbed the early lead in the 11th minute on the first of two goals from Brayan Lino. Lino capitalized again in the 64th minute. The Jaguars scored two more times in the 76th minute.
Ernesto Avila (Houston/Humble) made two saves while freshman Diego Hernadez (San Marcos/San Marcos) made his TLU debut, making one save in-goal in the second half. TLU had nine shots, including shots on goal from
Jaden Felix (Houston/Cy-Creek) and
Chris Cantu (Harlingen/Harlingen).
The Jaguars led 14-9 in total shots, 7-2 in shots on goal, and held the edge in corners, 6-4.
The Bulldogs close out the three-game homestand on Friday, Sept. 11, against rival Southwestern at Gustafson Field. Kickoff is set for 7:30 PM. The match will be streamed on FloCollege. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
